Yawning Man have been around       an on-         off-again project        guitarist Gary Arce (Ten East, Sort Of Quartet, Fatso Jetson)         drummer Alfredo Hernandez (Kyuss, Queens of        Stone Age)        over 20 years,         stand as      defining influence on        so-called "desert-rock" scene. Yawning Man, however,        quite      different musical beast from those        y inspired. Drawing heavily from        SST roster -- Black Flag, Minutemen, Meat Puppets --        ir music      caught in        nexus       surf, psychedelia, Krautrock and        Spaghetti Western soundscapes       Ennio Morricone. Or, if you will,      missing link between        worlds       Dick Dale, Syd's 'Floyd,         Pell Mell. On        se recordings, Yawning Man also features        bass duties       Mario Lalli         Billy Cordell. The sheer lyricism of        playing demonstrates        ir total lack       need for      vocalist. Closely aligned       both        stoner-rock scene which adores        m (despite        ir total lack       'Sabbath-like Championed by stoners         avant-rockers everywhere.
